Last Sunday I took up my whole finds post to show you one glorious book. So today I thought I'd show you what I didn't get a chance to last week. It's handy that I have these up my sleeve to show you because, it has been a very busy week here at home. Especially with study, training and assessment commitments and today being the 17th of February is my baby girls second birthday.......Happy Birthday Little V.
Another recent children's book to gush over, with gorgeous illustrations. Again the inside cover designs are incredibly sweet. I'm particularly smitten with these ones too. Seriously it's hard not to swoon over vintage pixie-like illustrations, don't you think?

Then finally and totally not book related, who remembers these drawing stencils as a kid?
I have very, very early memories of playing with these tracing around them with pencils on butchers paper mum saved from meat shopping each week. I bought these recently for no other reason then they connected me to an actual flash of memory from my childhood and having no possessions from childhood it was once again just one of those things I had to do for myself.

What beautiful books Trudie. Happy birthday to little V. I can't recall those stencils Trudie but plastic wasn't invented when I was very young. LOL

There's just something about these old children's books I'm picking up at the moment. Oh Anne you're a crack up, you are so not that old. X
DeleteWhat beautiful books....they take me back to my childhood. We're finally home from our holidays. I've been reading your posts on my phone, but it's a pain in the neck to comment. I hope Little V has a magical birthday, & I hope we get a chance to have that catch up soon. Xx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're back my sweet love. I've been having quite a run on the children's books lately such sweet illustrations. He's catch ups are a must and soon. X
DeleteI think we had that My Giant Fairytale book- it looks very familiar! Love those illustrations x x
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of you so much lately when I've been picking up these children's books with these gorgeous illustrations.
DeleteLove the Dennis the Menace book. I remember watching that show when I was young. I think my passion for vintage stems from my childhood memories as well. Glad to have found someone with a common love of nostalgia. All the best, Tricia M.
ReplyDeleteThere's certainly something comforting about things that remind us of another time or our childhood, especially when associated with fond experiences and memories.
DeleteLove the illustrations in the first book, both those and the stencils are proper blasts from the past!
ReplyDeleteOur Dennis the Menace looks nothing like that blond child, the Bri boy has black spiky hair and a red and black striped jumper, Sid Vicious style.
Sending love on Little V's birthday! xxx
Little V accepts your lovely birthday wishes.
DeleteI kind of like the sound of this Sid Vicious kid.
Yes I remember those stencils too!
ReplyDeleteI love that book - the illustrations are fantastic. I might have had it as a kid - or I may have it now - it looks so familiar! x
I remember spending so much time tracing around those stencils.
